Tardy to school: Students must sign in with the front office. We will excuse tardies ONLY if the students have a note signed by a parent with a number where we can verify. For student safety, we will no longer accept phone calls for an excused tardy. Students should not have more than 5 excused tardies each semester; otherwise, a doctor’s note may be required. Students accumulating unexcused tardies to school will be disciplined the same as described below for unexcused tardies to class.
Early Dismissals: For student safety, we will not release students to their parents if they call from the parking lot asking for their child to be dismissed. Students are to drop a note from their parent to their Alpha Administrator's secretary NO LATER THAN 7:30 am, as to the time, the reason and a number parents can be reached (the number must match the emergency card) and we will verify the dismissal. Then, students will receive a green pass to leave school at the requested time, without signing out! But, if a parent wants to pick up their student after the school day begins, and the student did not drop off a note, parents will be REQUIRED to come inside the building, show ID, then we will dismiss the student. If parents can’t come get the student and they send another family member or friend, that person MUST be listed on the emergency card. We take all precautions to keep students safe.
Absent from School: Students can drop off a note WITHIN TWO DAYS to their Alpha Administrator's secretary. The note must be signed and dated by a parent and should include a contact number and reason for absence.
Excessive Absences: Students need to be in school every day, earning the state mandated 140 clock hours in each class. If a student misses more than 10 days of school (excused or unexcused) he/she is at risk of not earning credit for the class, even if the student has an A.
Missing three or more days in a row: Any parent requesting a student absence for more than three days must send in a written request for approval.
Unexcused Tardies to Class:
Students are recognized at the end of the year with outstanding attendance!
